Our Story: 110+ Years of Culinary Excellence

From a small blacksmith shop in Brazil to a global leader in professional cookware, Tramontina has been crafting exceptional kitchen tools since 1911.

The Beginning: 1911

Our journey began in the southern Brazilian town of Carlos Barbosa, where Valentin Tramontina, an Italian immigrant, opened a small blacksmith shop. With a hammer, anvil, and an unwavering commitment to quality, he began forging tools and cutlery for the local community.

What started as a humble workshop quickly gained a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship. Word spread throughout the region about the durability and precision of Tramontina products, laying the foundation for what would become one of the world's most trusted cookware brands.

The values established in that first workshop—quality, durability, and value—remain at the core of everything we do today, over a century later.

Growth & Innovation: 1950s-1980s

As Brazil's economy grew in the mid-20th century, so did Tramontina. The company expanded beyond hand-forged tools to embrace modern manufacturing techniques, investing in advanced equipment and technology while maintaining the artisanal quality that defined the brand.

During this period, Tramontina began producing professional-grade cookware using stainless steel, aluminum, and cast iron. Our engineers worked closely with chefs and culinary experts to develop products that met the demanding standards of commercial kitchens.

The introduction of our tri-ply clad technology in the 1970s revolutionized how home cooks could achieve professional results, bringing restaurant-quality performance into everyday kitchens across Brazil and beyond.

Global Expansion: 1990s-Present

The 1990s marked Tramontina's entry into international markets. Our commitment to offering professional-quality cookware at accessible prices resonated with home cooks worldwide, particularly in North America and Europe where premium cookware often carried luxury price tags.

Today, Tramontina products are sold in over 120 countries across six continents. We operate multiple manufacturing facilities in Brazil and abroad, producing millions of pieces annually while maintaining the quality standards established over a century ago.

Despite our global reach, we remain a family-owned company headquartered in Brazil, committed to sustainable manufacturing practices and supporting the communities where we operate.
